The Genesis: Born in COVID19 Crisis – April 25, 2021
- Sangbed Chandannagar was founded amidst the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic. Driven by immediate human concern, local citizens united to provide emergency relief, including oxygen, essential medicines, food, and direct care for affected families.
Deepening Community Engagement – Mid to Late 2021
- Recognizing that needs extended far beyond immediate crisis relief, Sangbed shifted from reactive emergency aid toward organized, continuous support offering guidance and ongoing connection to local neighborhoods.
Transition to Sustained Welfare Work – 2021 – 2022
- The organization expanded beyond pandemic response to build long-term, initiative-based programs spanning general healthcare, public health camps, and structured social welfare.
Diversification & Pillar Programs – 2022 – Present
- Sangbed consolidated its core community pillars, introducing signature initiatives including Pathshala (child education), regular lonely-elder care check-ins (Care the Elders), Livelihood Assistance for low-income families, Environmental Stewardship (Brikkho Bank) and Posthumous Eye Retrieval Centre licensed by Govt. of West Bengal.
Building Trust & Human Infrastructure – Ongoing
- Focusing on sustained local partnerships, volunteer networks, and deep community trust ensuring grassroots action remains continuous, adaptive, and shared by all.
